Granite High School

Poll Sound recently upgraded the main auditorium audio system at neighboring Granite High School in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Poll Sound has been in business for more than 80 years. Poll's owner and chief system architect is Deward Timothy, son of the company's founder, and graduate of Granite High School.

The installation team started working at 10:00am, replaced all loudspeakers and equipment (including extensive new wiring), and had the upgraded system up and running by 6:00pm. The only system components that were not replaced were the school's microphones, microphone stands, and patch panels located around the auditorium's main stage.

The modern, multi-zone audio system utilizes Rane RPM 88 Programmable Multiprocessors, along with QSC power amplifiers, EAW loudspeakers, and a Mackie mixing console. The new rack required minor building construction to widen the wall opening.

Deward Timothy, owner of Poll Sound: “The only real problem we had with the upgrade was that we had to widen the opening for the new rack, a common problem we have with replacing equipment from almost 50 years ago.

Rane's RPM 88 Programmable Multiprocessors are powerful yet easy to use. With the help of Rane's excellent documentation and technical support, we were able to complete the state-of-the-art upgrade in just a single day!"
