The Triple Door
The Triple Door offers state-of-the-art sound and lighting, in an intimate setting below Wild Ginger restaurant in Seattle.
The Triple Door opened in September, 2003, after owners Rick and Ann Yoder transformed the historic Embassy Theater into a world-class music venue. The facility includes a mainstage, the Musicquarium lounge, and private suites

The mainstage seats 220, and features jazz, blues, cabaret, rock, world, folk, latin, and country. Because of the mainstage’s intimate size, the venue attracts many artists not on the popular culture radar. The mainstage also has 48-track recording capability.

Overlooking the mainstage are four suites, with seating for private parties. Also adjacent is the Musicquarium, a 150-seat lounge, where guests can enjoy bar service and local jazz.

For the venue's 3-zone, 5-source music system, The Triple Door's Steve Malone installed one Rane RPM 88 Programmable Multiprocessor and two SR 3 Smart Remotes. Besides the popular Rane products, the sound system includes a 400-disc CD changer (connected to the AES3 input of the RPM 88), Crown amplifiers, and JBL speakers. The other RPM 88 inputs are fed from the Musicquarium and mainstage mixing consoles.

The RPM 88 is used to select the audio source in both the lounge and the private suites. It also provides the venue with two independent crossovers, mono mixing for the lounge zone and the mono subwoofer output, alignment delay for when acoustic sources are selected, six bands of parametric EQ per output, and signal limiters. The flexible SR 3 Smart Remotes are simple enough for the staff to use and understand.

Malone states: "Even at very low volumes, the flexibility of Rane's Drag Net min/max level settings in the remote map allows loudness compensation directly from the SR 3 remotes. Setting different min/max for the subwoofer's level provides more bass at low volumes compared to higher volumes. This provides full, rich bass, even at the lowest volume setting."

The entire system is controlled from SR 3 remotes located in the hostess station closet. The lighted SR 3 remotes allowed their placement in a dark black room with minimal lighting.
