Shipping / Receiving Clerk

This position floats between two departments. Generally this person will work M-W-F in the Stores Receiving Department from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Tuesday and Thursday this person will work in the Finished Goods Shipping Warehouse from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.  Department assignment may fluctuate based on workload. This is a full-time hourly position at our factory in Mukilteo Washington. This is a very physically demanding job requiring lifting and standing for the full working day.

Shipping Clerk Description – Finished Goods Warehouse:

General Requirements

The Shipping Clerk is utilized within the Finished Goods Warehouse of the Customer Service Department. The Shipping Clerk will be responsible for processing domestic orders and international orders for shipping; this includes but is not limited to: receiving units into finished goods, moving the units from the factory to the warehouse, putting units on shelves in serial order number and running daily reports.

Essential Functions for Shipping Clerk:

  1. Physically receives units into finished goods. Verifies number of units against move ticket and inputs move ticket information into Rane main computer system. Physically moves finished units from factory to warehouse using electric cart (Rane Mobile.)
  2. Prepare orders for shipment using scale and computer.
  3. Physical inventory count of B, C and Loaner stock monthly.
  4. Physical inventory count of finished goods inventory twice a week.
  5. Stocks finished goods inventory in serial number order on shelves, often requiring use of a ladder.
  6. Runs and distributes daily reports.
  7. Helps drivers load delivery/cartage trucks.
  8. Operates a Walk Behind Straddle Lift Truck
  9. Ability to work under varying temperature changes.
  10. Provides excellent customer service to both in-house and outside customers.
  11. Drives in a safe responsible manner and adheres to all rules of the road when driving the Rane Mobile
  12. Performs daily warehouse tasks including but not limited to: sweeping, trash removal and bathroom cleaning.
  13. Assists with stocking and maintaining shipping supplies at warehouse.
  14. Shares responsibility of co-worker to ensure Walk Behind and Rane Mobile are plugged in and charged.
  15. Uses proper lifting techniques at all times.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.

  7. Potential slip and fall injuries from working on wet floors by shipping doors.
  8. Potential repetitive use injuries from use of a computer.

Personal Protective Equipment

  1. Dressing appropriately for the weather is highly recommended.
  2. Drinking water is provided and encouraged on hot days.
  3. Wear seat belt at all times when driving the slow moving vehicle (Rane Mobile).
  4. Use of proper lifting techniques and use of hand truck when required.
  5. Anti-fatigue mats are provided for standing.
  6. Closed toe shoes and clothing that cover knees are required.

  1. Ability to perform tasks under limited supervision.
  2. Completes work without reminders from the supervisor, seeks new assignments when work is completed.
  3. Cooperative and courteous to others without creating friction or poor morale.
  4. Maintains a safe, organized, clean and secure warehouse at all times.  

Skill and Knowledge Requirements

  1. Basic knowledge of computers, adding machine and use of scales.
  2. Accuracy with numbers absolutely essential.
  3. Proven organizational skills, detail oriented and precise.
  4. Ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision.
  5. Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  6. Ability to quickly move from one task to another.
  7. Strong team-work oriented attitude.
  8. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds frequently throughout the day.
  9. Ability to work under varying temperature changes.
  10. Ability to be on feet (standing, walking) for most of the day.
  11. Holds and maintains a current valid Washington State Drivers license.
  12. Successful completion of Lift Truck training program.
  13. Above average punctuality and attendance.

Stores Receiving Clerk Job Description:

General Requirements

The Receiving Stores Clerk performs various receiving dock duties and daily stockroom tasks. This person is responsible for receiving parts from suppliers and performing preliminary inspection of parts for conformity to Rane specifications and various stockroom duties. Proven above average attendance and punctuality required. Must have verbal, written and reading skills in English . Knowledge and understanding MRP manufacturing systems a plus.

Essential Functions         

  1. Physically receives parts from suppliers.
  2. Follows proper handling of parts and paperwork to ensure PO matches parts received.
  3. Prepares part kitting for Sub-Assembly and Final Assembly work orders.
  4. Receives/verifies incoming Sub-assemblies from production.
  5. Issues sub-assemblies as required to Final Assembly kits.
  6. Accomplishes computer transactions with a high degree of accuracy.
  7. Retrieves and inputs repetitive data into a computer on a frequent basis.
  8. Supports/assists all people who require the services of the Stores Department.
  9. Performs daily stockroom tasks, including cleaning and organizing.
  10. Lifts and stocks inventory from 1 - 60 pounds from ground level to above shoulder height throughout the day.
  11. Uses hand truck on a frequent basis.
  12. Performs most duties while standing or walking. Long periods of standing or walking to pull parts for Sub and Final Assembly are required.
  13. Works in varying temperature changes.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned in other departments as well.

  4. Detail-oriented; precise, and a self starter. Able to take the initiative and be self directed.
  5. Ability to go from one assignment to another.
  6. Minimum high school or equivalent math, reading and writing ability.
  7. Familiarity of Rane products a plus.
  8. Organizational skills.
  9. Sustained concentration and prolonged commitment to job tasks.
  10. Above average punctuality and attendance.
