Adding a Room Combine Processor to the Processing Map
The HAL System Room Combine Processor is designed to simplify the task of configuring the audio system for a set of rooms with movable walls that can be opened and closed in a variety of ways (configurations that are common in hotels, churches, schools, and conference centers). Whereas most existing room combine solutions force designers to think about all the possible rooms all at once while working with all the parameters in a giant matrix mixer, the HAL System Room Combine Processor simplifies the process by allowing you to think about one room at a time, without worrying about specific walls or previous configurations for other room combinations.
To add a Room Combine Processor block to the Processing Map:
- In the DSP palette in the Processing Workspace, expand the Paging/Room Combine category, if necessary, and drag the Room Combine Processor block into the Processing Map.
- By default, the Room Combine Processor block contains three . Adjust the number of base rooms needed for your system. To delete a room, click the red X in the lower right corner of the room: To add a room, click the Add Room button at the bottom of the block: A single Room Combine Processor can contain a maximum of 12 base rooms.
- Optionally, customize the name of the Room Combine Processor block by clicking its current name and then typing a custom name in the edit box that appears:
- Wire inputs to each base room.
- Wire microphone input to the base room's Auto Mixer. Add more inputs by wiring to the <Add> node.
- If necessary, cascade one or more additional auto mixer (AM2) by dropping it on the Add Cascade In flag: After dropping the AM2 on its target, the user interface changes to look like this:
tip: If you have multiple AM2s cascaded together, you only need to drop one onto Add Cascade In flag. If, however, you plan to use multiple AM2s (that are not cascaded together) in multiple locations in the room, you should drop each one onto the Add Cascade In flag.
- Wire Line In inputs to the base room's Mixer. Add more inputs by wiring to the <Add> node.
note: If you have configured a Distributed Program Bus, those inputs are available in each base room.
- Wire the base room's outputs as needed for your system. There are two outputs: Record Out and Room Out. Record Out, which ignores pages and level changes, is intended for recording the audio occurring in the base room, feeding an Assisted Listening System (ALS), or overflowing the room's audio into other zones that have their own page zone and volume control.
- Each base room is automatically included as a paging zone in the Paging Manager. If your system includes paging, customize the zone name (if desired) in the green flag located in the bottom left corner of the room. To do so, click the current name and type a new name in the edit box that appears:
The next step is to configure the base room layout and specify which walls are movable.
