Manufacturing Engineer

General Requirements
A Manufacturing Engineer (ME) at Rane Corporation is a critical support function for the entire production operation. Manufacturing Engineers must help overcome the day to day problems of parts, machines and processes. They also help identify and implement improvements to raise quality and productivity. A Rane Manufacturing Engineer must posess technical abilities to understand electro-mechanical devices, a logical mindset to troubleshoot to root causes, the ability to work with people, and the initiative to seek out improvement areas. This job involves active interaction with the production processes and people.
Responsibilities
The ME is responsible for all production equipment. This includes ensuring proper equipment operation, maintenance and repair, ensuring spare parts availability, collecting performance statistics, and addressing process related issues. The ME is the technical expert on the equipment.
The ME is responsible for ensuring replacement parts are available for the machines. He/she must insure the necessity of parts replacement and that root causes of problems are being addressed. Data from repairs are collected and utilized in developing spares budget forecasts.
The ME must know machine requirements (e.g., power, air, ventilation) and insure that these are continuously met. This requires interface with plant and facilities maintenance for services
The ME is also responsible for continuous process improvement.
Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for the pre-production and production introductions of products on the factory floor. This includes ensuring a manufacturable design is released from Engineering, distributing the documents from Engineering, assisting the area supervisor in machine programming, coordinating production feedback, and insuring adequate build process documentation and personnel training.
The interface with Engineering is critical for the on line production equipment. The machine capabilities for placement/insertion and process acceptability for re-flow/wave solder are intimately linked to circuit board layout. The ME has to check and provide feedback on layout issues that lead to errors and rework or make additional process demands.
Duties
- Provide support for all PCB assembly operations
- Oversee routine machine maintenance
- Provide repair support and resolves to root cause any problems that arise
- Perform initial setup and operations for new circuit boards
- Rectify BOM/layout errors with Engineering and Drafting Departments
- Creates new parts for surface mount placement machine library
- Document equipment setups and procedures
- Provide operator training at all skill levels
- Identify issues and develop/implement solutions to reduce time and cost of assembly
- Perform routine maintenance on compressed air system
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Technical college degree and one to two years related experience.
- Electro/mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with Engineering documentation (e.g. schematics, assembly drawings)
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, AutoCad)
- Excellent communication skills, which aid in interacting with coworkers of varied language and skill levels
- Works well with other people
- Flexibility in a production environment
- Above average punctuality and attendance
