Rane Rane Sixty-One, Sixty-Two & Z-Trip's Sixty-Two Z Mixers for Serato Scratch Live

Turntablism is alive and more creative than ever. Rane and Serato are proud to be supporting partners in that creativity with the introduction of the Rane Sixty-One and Sixty-Two mixers for Serato Scratch Live.

For more than a decade, artists have chosen innovative Rane instruments to advance their art, and three generations of TTM series mixers have been the top pick for many of the world's best performers. These mixers more tightly integrate performer, music, software, and hardware. The artist adds passion, imagination and skills.

The Sixty-Two is a plug-and-play package supporting two computers, 2-deck digital vinyl simulation, SP-6 sample player, software and hardware effects and all the record and playback channels you need.  Software controls for Library, Loops, Cues and SP-6 are laid out for fast and intuitive access. Choose the Sixty-Two and join a community of users dedicated to advancement of the art.

Genre-bending musical pioneer Z-Trip co-designed the Limited Edition Sixty-Two Z Mixer, which features a face plate designed by renown artist, Shepard Fairey and high-quality custom purple cables.

"Every DJ dreams of designing a mixer,” reveals Z-Trip. “The new Rane Sixty-Two Z is my dream realized — it has everything I want in a mixer. Only Rane and Serato could help build such a versatile machine and interface."

If you are looking for the same bullet-proof construction, pristine audio quality and integrated 20-channel sound card but prefer to use your own MIDI controller with outboard software or hardware effects and a single computer, consider the Rane Sixty-One.

Dean Standing at Rane Corporation says “We have a huge group of dedicated users who have been sharing their thoughts and ideas with us on what the next battle mixer should be. As we were developing this next generation mixer, it turned into two products: a basic high-quality mixer with integrated 20-channel sound card and a second mixer that also includes MIDI mappable controls, internal effects and two USB ports. We appreciate that one model doesn’t fit all users.”

"Rane have nailed it with these two incredible mixers," explains Sam Gribben, C.E.O. of Serato. "The Sixty-One is perfect for the pure digital turntablist, with its clean and classic interface and, of course, Rane's amazing magnetic faders. The Sixty-Two is the ultimate party rocking mixer, with all the controls you need at your fingertips."

Scratch Live Software & Rane SL 4 Take DJ Mag Awards

The winning combination of Rane hardware and Serato’s Scratch Live software scores at the DJ Mag Tech Awards at the 2011 BPM DJ show in Birmingham. Serato’s Scratch Live Software takes home the award for “Best DJ Software” and the Rane SL 4 was awarded “Best DJ Soundcard”.

Serato software combined with Rane hardware is the professional DJs’ weapon of choice, and now the DJ Mag Tech Awards have solidified what DJs have known for years - that Scratch Live is the best digital DJ solution in the industry.

Serato Scratch Live was designed by New Zealand based software company, Serato Audio Research, and is widely hailed as the industry standard in vinyl emulation software. DJs around the world trust Scratch Live every day, and use the software to mix digital music files, perform original productions and remix on the fly.

“We’re ecstatic to win this award,” says Sam Gribben, C.E.O. of Serato Audio Research. “Our partnership with Rane is dedicated to quality and performance, and it’s amazing to have an outfit as respected as DJ Mag to celebrate and acknowledge this.”

The Rane SL 4 is the first dual USB interface for DJs, which makes for easy DJ changeover and back-to-back sets. Professionals appreciate the SL 4’s performance and sound quality with 24-bit sound processing the added flexibility of switchable 96kHZ/48kHZ sample rate.

Core Audio and ASIO drivers transform the SL 4 into a studio grade 10-in 10-out soundcard. When teamed with Scratch Live, DJs can play with up to four decks, and use the auxiliary channel for advanced creative features like the SP6 sample player, LiveFeed or The Bridge.

“The “Best DJ Soundcard” was voted on by DJ Mag’s readers” notes Rane’s Director of Sales, Dean Standing. “It’s especially gratifying to receive this type of recognition from the public and we’d like to thank all of those who voted for the SL 4.”

DJ Vajra Wins the 2011 DMC Championship

Gold Sixty-Eight
DJ Vajra from Colorado is the winner of the 2011 DMC Championship!
Left to right: half of the DJ team Kireek, DJ Nelson, DJ Vajra, and the other half of Kireek.

Every year the DMC DJ Championships grow. The competitors become more innovative and the DMC brand itself becomes even more critical to the technological advances in DJ and music culture. The DMC World Finals 2011 were no different, as the competitors harnessed the opportunity to use Serato Scratch Live and DVS in their routines, pushing the standards of every set even higher.

Each of the competitors at this year’s World Final were of an extremely high caliber, but after a hard fought battle, Vajra took the crown for the USA. No one in the building could question the skills he had displayed, as he cut and scratched his way to becoming the owner of the 2011 title and the much talked about gold-plated Rane Sixty-Eight mixer, among many other prizes supplied by Rane and Serato. Japan’s Izoh came in second with a highly entertaining routine, and DJ Co-Ma, also from Japan, came in third. 2 x DMC UK Champion JFB delivered a masterful performance which now places him 4th in the World.

The Battle for Supremacy ended in style with France’s DJ Nelson taking out all competitors with the skills only a champion of champions could exhibit. The Runner up Norihito from Japan battled hard too, and will without a doubt be coming back next year to try and retrieve the crown.

The Team Battle on Thursday got people talking, with Japan’s Kireek winning the title again – their 5th consecutive win, now beating C2C to hold the world record for consecutive World Team Championship wins.

In between the acts, charismatic host Inja charmed the audience with his trademark style treating the crowd to a host of new tracks that sounded huge on the Indig02’s purpose built sound system. Thursday saw The X Ecutioners return to show London precisely why they are considered one of the best DJ Crews on the planet. Hobbit joined all female beatbox crew The Boxettes to provide a welcome break to the testosterone in the room, providing all kinds of inhuman noises that impressed the typically turntablist enthusiast audience.

On Friday night the 2010 World Champion DJ Ligone performed a special Rane and Serato showcase, and Nathan Flutebox Lee and The Clinic stormed the stage with live-band backed rap and flute-boxing (beatboxing and flute at the same time) leaving no one in the room able to believe what they were seeing. DJ Switch performed the impressive Concerto for Turntables, and 2003 World Supremacy DJ Tigerstyle cracked out the MPC for a multi-hardware show.

All in all the two-day event was another example of how the DMC World Championships keep moving with the times and are getting bigger every year. DMC are looking  forward to 2012’s proceedings, and are proud to announce that  Rane and Serato will continue their valued support of DMC in sponsoring next year’s events. This of course means the 2012 World DMC DJ Champion will also be receiving a specially manufactured gold-plated Rane mixer for Serato Scratch Live.

Serato HQ (New Zealand)
"This year's DMC events demonstrate how far the bar has been raised, and it was amazing to see first hand Serato Scratch Live and digital vinyl systems being embraced and pushed past their limits by the competitors. It was an inspiring two nights of performances and Serato are so thrilled for DJ Vajra, who is definitely deserving of Champion status. Bring on 2012!"

Dean Standing ( Rane corporation, USA)
“The world finals were over the top. The skills of the competitors this year were amazing – I’m glad that I’m not a judge and can sit back and enjoy the event. Rane is pleased to involved with DMC and we look forward to the continued evolution of the performances”

Tony Prince (DMC Founder)
“The DMC World DJ Championships create new DJ stars every year.  This year it’s apparent the stars will be bigger than ever now they have adapted turntables to technology. Promoted throughout the year with ONLINE DJ CHAMPIONSHIPS (via dmcworld.com) we are reaching hundreds of new countries and able to inspire thousands of new breed DJs in every corner of the globe. We are extremely grateful to have the perfect sponsors, Rane and Serato, along with us for this magical annual ride and can’t wait to see where we go from here.”

Sally Mclintock (DMC World Events Manager)
“So happy with the success of this year’s World Finals. DJs flew in from all over the world to compete for the ultimate DJ title – DMC World Champion, and the chance to take home the custom made Gold Rane Sixty-Eight Mixer. Congratulations to DJ Vajra (USA), Kireek (Japan) and DJ Nelson (France) on your World titles!  This year’s event just shows what new levels and standards the DJs are reaching, now they have the ability to use Serato Scratch Live. We look forward to working with our sponsors and the 2012 planning has already begun. Roll on next year”

Sporting two microphone inputs, four studio-grade phono preamps, four analog aux inputs, four low-latency stereo USB inputs, analog and USB effects insert loops, a powerful internal effects engine featuring Filter, Flanger, Phaser, Echo, Robot, and Reverb effects, and a variety of analog and digital outputs; the MP26 remains rooted in analog tradition while reaching new heights of digital connectivity and performance. The MP26 has the same features as the Rane MP25 with the addition of internal digital effects and an increase in height to 8.75 inches (22 cm).

Reliable, low-latency, multi-client ASIO and Core Audio drivers interface the MP26’s twenty-two USB audio channels directly to your favorite multi-track mixing, beat-making, looping, effects, and recording applications. Additionally, the MP26’s front panel controls are MIDI enabled, allowing manipulation of software parameters directly from the mixer’s control surface.

Combine outboard effects processors with VST effects running on your computer and the MP26’s internal effects processor. FlexFX makes it easy to create unique, compelling mixes in a variety of mixing styles.

Two microphone inputs put the DJ and other entertainers in direct contact with the audience. Each microphone includes independent Talkover control . Engage a mic to put it into the mix, or engage Talkover to put the mic in the mix and duck all other sources. Talkover makes it easy to jump into the mix for quick, intelligible announcements.
